The Malone Family Foundation hosted the 3rd annual Black & Gold Breaking the Mold as part of Mental Health Awareness Month and MTV’s worldwide Mental Health Action Day in May. The 2-day event, presented by Tomahawk Charitable Solutions, was highlighted by an open conversation about mental health with Ryan Malone and NHL guests during the Black & Gold Gala on Wednesday, May 14. Veterans, first responders and NHL Alumni we’re in attendance at the gala, which was proudly presented by Rivers Casino.
Black & Gold Breaking the Mold continued with the Hero & Celebrity Hockey Game on Thursday, May 15 at the RMU Island Sports Center. Those participating in the game included current + former NHL players, members of our Veteran and first responder communities, local celebrities, and mental health advocates. The game shone a light on the healing power of hockey and our need to take positive action daily on our mental health journeys. Prior to the game, a family-friendly Mental Health Rally shared mental wellness resources and fun activities including music, mascots, food trucks and more.
