The Malone Family Foundation, founded by Ryan Malone, hosted the 4th annual Black & Gold Breaking the Mold event in support of the healing power of hockey.

In 2026, the inaugural Hero Tournament took place, hosting 8 teams from the Pittsburgh Area comprised of Veterans and First Responders. We wish to congratulate the Pittsburgh Warthogs of the It’s About the Warrior Foundation for being crowned the winners of this year’s tournament!

Black & Gold Gala presented by Rivers Casino

Black & Gold Breaking the Mold once again featured the Black & Gold Gala at Rivers Casino, where with local celebrities, members of the NHL Alumni Association, and the Malone family celebrated our local heroes as well as the successful history of hockey in Western Pennsylvania and the United States. All while raising money to support our programming benefitting the wellness of our Veterans and First Responders.
