President & Founder, The Malone Family Foundation

Born in Pittsburgh, Ryan Malone enjoyed a standout NHL career spanning 647 games, tallying 179 goals and 191 assists for a total of 370 points. A hometown hero, he became the first Pittsburgh-born player to don the Penguins’ black and gold in 2003. During his NHL career, Ryan also played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers.

After rising through Upper St. Clair High School, Shattuck-St. Mary’s, and St. Cloud State University, he excelled in his NHL rookie season – earning a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team. He also earned the Penguins Players’ Player Award, just like his father Greg. Beyond the NHL, Ryan represented the United States at two World Championships and won silver at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Passionate about giving back to the game that gave him so much, Ryan founded The Malone Family Foundation in 2023. His hope is to share the healing power of hockey through the work of the foundation – extending nearly half a century of the Malone family legacy. Further, Ryan serves as the President of the Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association and as a Board Member for the NHL Alumni Association.
