On May 18, 2023, the worldwide date for MTV’s Mental Health Action Day, The Malone Family Foundation held Black & Gold Breaking the Mold at Printscape Arena at Southpointe. This sold-out event began with a panel discussion about the importance of one’s mental wellness and concluded with a celebrity hockey game. Ryan Malone, Brett Keisel, J.T. Miller, Neil Walker, Tyler Kennedy and additional local celebrities went head-to-head against members of the Pittsburgh Warriors with the ultimate goal of raising awareness for mental health. All players wore #22 on-ice in memory of the 22 Veterans that die by suicide each day.
The highlight of Black & Gold Breaking the Mold was a $16,000 check presentation by The Malone Family Foundation to the Pittsburgh Warriors. The donation and event would not have been possible without a generous grant from MTV and the support of Aurelius.
Mark your calendars for 2024 as Mental Health Action Day is set for May 16, 2024. Additional details will be shared soon.
