On Veterans Day in 2022, The Malone Family Foundation played an integral role in the Pittsburgh Penguins Military Appreciation Game and pre-game festivities. To start the day, Ryan Malone dropped the puck for an afternoon match-up between the Pittsburgh Warriors and Johnstown Generals. The game celebrated these heroes for their dedication to our country within the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins players.

That evening, the Malone family hosted Veterans from the Pittsburgh Warriors within a suite at PPG Paints Arena who were also welcomed by members of the Penguins Alumni Association. Further, the Penguins Military Appreciation Game offered a platform for The Malone Family Foundation to share its mission just two months after its launch. Ryan Malone was interviewed on the Penguins pre-game broadcast, the Malone family met local military organizations and fans on the concourse and additional messaging was shared to amplify the goals of our foundation.

This game will serve as a catalyst for the future work of The Malone Family Foundation tied to military appreciation initiatives across the league. The Malone family is currently in contact with the NHL Alumni Association to deepen our impact throughout the NHL thanks to the power of hockey.
